By plane: Schiphol Amsterdam

When your flight arrives at Schiphol Airport (Amsterdam) the easiest way to travel to Groningen is by train. Direct train connection link to the city. Train connections link the city with Schiphol International Airport every 30 minutes. The Central Station in Groningen is at 20 minutes walking distance from the UMCG. BY PLANE: ROTTERDAM THE HAGUE AIRPORT

Rotterdam The Hague Airport is a regional airport that can be used to fly to the Netherlands. It takes a bit longer to transport to Groningen compared to Schiphol; ± 3 hours.

BY PLANE: EINDHOVEN AIRPORT

Eindhoven Airport is another regional airport that can be used to fly to the Netherlands. It takes a bit longer to transport to Groningen compared to Schiphol: ± 3.5 hours.

By train: Groningen Central Station

Step into the main hall of Groningen Central Station and look up. Then look around. Let your mind go back to the heydays of old-world elegance and luxurious railway travelling. You are standing in one of the most beautiful historic railway station sites in the Netherlands. Majestic in every sense of the word. Groningen Central has always been a railway hub, still is. A terminal station in the Dutch railway network with excellent direct intercity connections to cities like Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam. A great number of regional lines are available for exploring the towns and villages nearby. A perfect spot to enter and start your discovery in Groningen.

By bus in Groningen

Arriving at the Central Station in Groningen, several busses will take you to the city center. Some busses will take you directly to the University Medical Center Groningen, see 9292. Both the city center (5 min) and the University Medical Center (10 min by bus) are also at walking distance from the Central Station. You can buy an OV ‘chipkaart’ at the station to use public transport in Groningen.

By car or taxi

Parking facilities are available in Parking garage Noord (paid parking), for directions visit the website of UMCG.

Bike rental

Groningen is a cycling city and has a lot of bike rentals. You can rent at the Central Station or Google ‘bike rental Groningen’ for other locations in the city centre.
