Hans Slender is policy advisor at the municipality of Groningen and recently developed a new future-oriented vision on sports and sporting capital. The sports policy of Groningen focuses on 1) sport for all, especially for vulnerable groups; 2) developing sport facilities and a movement friendly environment and 3) elite sport and talent development. As a former lecturer / researcher at Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen he’s been involved with research in the social impact of sport. As a soccer coach and former academy manager and
editor of TrainersMagazine, he’s been involved with translating and applying scientific knowledge to practice. He is board member of Football Science Groningen, with the focus on football and a sustainable society.
